SACRIFICE, NEVER AGAIN!

“No pain, no gain”, ”You earn your bread with the sweat of your brow”.

How often we hear these phrases from our parents, our teachers, the media, the church and the society that encourages us to admire people who live their lives with this slogan of SACRIFICE.

What sense does it make to sacrifice yourself every day with the hope of obtaining a result that would supposedly give us happiness? And what if we don’t even get that result? Then it means that the sacrifices made, were not even worth it.

For example: We believe that our workplace should be one of seriousness, a “doing” time, we have to be a productive machine that constantly wishes that time passes by fast so we could reach the desire result: the weekend, the check, etc. But the whole process was a constant: "I want this to be over; please be 6pm; I hope this year is over”.

If my day is full of activities, meetings, non stop working and barely had time to eat or rest. On top of that I get very tired at home and realized I was hungry so I devour de whole fridge. Ups! I still have thousands of pending things, that’s why I can’t even fall asleep and my head can’t shut down. But it does not matter!!! Because this was a productive day in which I gave it all. I was a productive person! This is an example of a successful day that children learn from their parents, the media, etc. Supposedly, these are the type of people that are going to reach success!

I realized that the times I had a day like the one I just mentioned, I actually did not feel good or very happy, but I felt I was doing the “right" thing. Because "That's adult life, the struggle, the hustle.” But in reality is just another wrong idea installed in our minds.

And I'm not saying there's something wrong with having a busy life with lots of goals and activities! On the contrary, it would be amazing to have such a day but from a different inner place.

I repeat,

WHAT’S THE POINT IN DOING EVERYTHING FROM A PLACE OF SACRIFICE AND HUSTLE IF THAT DOESN’T EVEN REASSURES YOU REACHING YOUR GOAL?

”You earn your bread with the sweat of your brow”, in my opinion, does not mean you have to suffer in order to be rewarded with happiness. Happiness is not a reward or an outcome. It doesn’t even have to do with what you're doing.

In my opinion, it means that if you choose to enjoy and make every meeting, every call with excellence instead of being demanding with yourself. That will give you constant happiness and satisfaction at all times before, during and after the journey.

And I don’t think anyone really wishes us to be sweating, feeling miserable and tired in order to get our daily “bread”.

Why can’t you give yourself a break, chill, breath and then continue working. With a better quality of life.

You can always stop and "refresh" the moment, ALWAYS. THERE ARE NO EXCUSES.

TO BE EXCELLENT, INTEGRAL AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING PATIENT WITH YOURSELF WILL ALSO GIVE YOU THE REWARD THAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.

What you're really looking for is satisfaction and that not only comes when you get the results, that can be a constant feeling in the process, if you want.

How come children can enjoy everything? Eating, waiting for the doctor, playing, traveling in the car, etc. Everything can be an opportunity to find happiness!

I can even assure you that if you create a game called "washing dishes while singing and being happy”. Kids will transform a mundane and boring activity, like washing dishes, in a fun game!

CHILDREN DON’T HAVE A PRECONCEPTION OF WHAT IS FUN OR WHAT IS NOT.

I admire the people who have the ability to transform washing dishes in a “game”. To find simple happiness and satisfaction in every insignificant moment.

MOVE IN THIS WORLD FROM A PLACE OF JOY AND WITHOUT TAKING EVERYTHING SO SERIOUSLY. TAKE SERIOUSLY THE FREEDOM TO ENJOY EVERY NON “ENJOYABLE” SITUATION.

If you apply this, the final goal would not even matter anymore. Because the satisfaction you were looking for, was found on the way, in each moment. From there reaching the goal becomes an extra joy and that’s actually when other unexpected gifts appear.

I am not saying that we should go around the world pretending to be happy when we are not. It is normal to feel moments of sadness, anger, etc. But they are just that, moments. They do not have to become a state of being.

I would like to encourage you to stop whenever you catch yourself in a “struggle mode”. Press a refresh inner bottom and start the same activity you were doing but from a place of a kid, a new game. I know that your head will be thinking that I don’t know about your life and what you are going through. But just try it, as stupid or useless it might sound, just play. SIMPLE.

THE SACRIFICE AND HUSTLING ARE OVERRATED. UPDATING YOURSELF DEPENDS ON YOU AND NOT ON ANY EXTERNAL FACTOR OR ANYONE ELSE! SIMPLE.
